Back in 2008 We featured some very cool products from a startup company that was created by women for the idea of creating products that appealed to the female sense of design and usability. Chic Buds is that company and since our interview with one of the founders Nikki Carlson, the company has gone through some changes which has increased the product line and continues to innovate with a focus on the user wanting a fashionable accessory for smart phone, tablet or PC/Mac.

We are taking a look at several products that could make really nice gifts for Valentine’s Day! ChicBuds refers to these products as Fun, Functional and Fashionable. One of the most requested products on the website at http://www.chicbuds.com is the Porta/Party Bluetooth Wireless Speaker. Easily pair up and play with your wireless device the Porta/Party is set for up to a 10 hours of play time and a design created by girls for girls, the floral or plaid design can fit just about anywhere and recharges with a USB cable, No buying of Batteries required! ChicBuds Gurl Power

One of the products I found on the ChicBuds site that I had to take a look at is the creative and functional Gurl Power device. No doubt this was developed by somebody with girls in the household that are always needing a place to plug in and charge their phones or tablets! Gurl Power is a small shape with floral design and features two USB charging ports! Two devices can be charged at the same time eliminating the headaches of tying up an outlet with bulky chargers. The product  itself receives a charge which can be done from an outlet or a PC/Mac. The device can then be carried with you and if the need to charge your phone arises, plug into the portable GurlPower back and in some cases, a full charge to the phone in about 70min.  This device sells for 39.99

As a dad to two girls, now grown up, I can see them still really enjoying the Chic Buds Luv/Buds In Line Mic and Earbuds. With the Chic Buds Luv/Buds you not only get the sound but you get the style with a flat cord design allowing for some actual pattern or design on the cord. Gel Tips on the Luv/Buds make it comfortable for listening longer and one button microphone allow for using your earbuds and still having the ability to accept incoming calls on the iPhone. This product sells inexpensively for 14.99 on the ChicBuds website.

ChicBuds Physique

If you like to use your iPhone while on the go, the folks at ChicBuds have a solution for you. The Chic Physique armband allows you to strap the soft housing, currently only for the iPhone 5 series, to your arm via a Velcro wrap which can be adjusted for just about any size arm. The material is reflective which can aid in safety on jogs and is machine washable! The pricing for the Chic Physique is 14.99 and comes in different designs.

Finally, we looked at a really nice little carry all called the Onsie. The ChicBuds Onsie features a space for your phone, a strap to carry the Onsie and cool looking designs available. Inside, a mirror to check the makeup, the ability to hold a couple of credit cards and have easy access to your phone screen. This Onsie sells for about 24.99

These are just some of the products we looked at, the entire line can be found at http://www.chicbuds.com. Many of these items could be shipped in time for Valentine’s Day and could even be thought of for Mothers Day. It’s nice to see another company focus on making Tech fashionable and friendly for a large market of the consumers. ChicBuds is certainly a strong brand with outreach to other areas such as its website http://www.chicblvd.com which features articles on not only tech gear but also tips and tricks for everyday life, marriage and family and dating. http://www.chicexec.com also branches to the area of innovation and business with a great site for learning of trends and practice in start ups. http://www.chicexec.com can provide public relations services as well as channel management for distribution of products when developed to investor relations to assist in funding the dream.

Mother’s Day is May 8th! A couple of ideas…

May 8th is Mother’s Day!  (You’re welcome…)

Is your mother into tech?  Well, we have a couple of ideas for you.  OK…chicBuds does…

The chicBuds RockBuds DJ Sport Headphones are black, fold for carrying and storage, and have an adjustable headband.  They use a 44 mm driver.  The length of the cord is 1.5 meters.  A 3.5 milimeter stereo plug is at the end of it, and a 1/4-inch adapter is included.

The chicKiss Bluetooth Wireless Headsets are decorated with Swarovski Crystals for that classy, sassy look.

It comes in two colors:  white, and pink.  An over the ear hook is included, as is three silicon gel tips (XS, S, and M).

A wall adpater charger is supplied for the rechargeable headset.  The standby time can be as long as 200 hours, and talk time up to 6 hours.  The cord for the charger had a plug on it so it can be charged via a USB port, also.

Though intended for use with a wireless telephone, I was able to use it with my computer.

ThinkGeek has me wishin’…and hopin’…and thinkin’…and prayin’…plannin’…and dreamin’…

Yea!  My ThinkGeek catalog has come in the mail…look at some of the neat stuff I found.

On page 5:  Star Wars Rebel Pilot headphones

On page 10:  Slide Rules…RULE!!!

On page 12:  IngenuiTEA teapot (“short and stout”…get it?)

On page 13:  Whiskey Stones (Brilliant!)

Mimo USB monitors

And on page 53:  “Loading…Please Wait” maternity shirt for mommy

Now, don’t say you don’t have some great ideas for gifts.  And, feel free to use these suggestions for gifts for others…as well as me.  (I made this list…you can check it twice.)

Philips and O’Neill “Stretch” headphones

A brown, plain box was delivered and then was handed to me.  Sometimes, you never know:  it could be a good thing, or…

It was the Philips | O’Neill Stretch SHO9561 headphones.  And they are a great thing.
Of their new line-up (see below), these are the toughest:  they’re impact, and stress/crack, resistant. “The headband is constructed with TR55 superstretch polymer…ensuring these headphones are extremely tough and flexible.”

Really?  I thought they were making it up.  Until I found:
Klegecell TR 55 High-performance Expanded Polymer Foam Core Material

OK.  It’s for real.  Durability:  “check”…

The Stretch headphones have an open acoustic system with 40 millimeters dynamic drivers to provide clear audio, and very deep bass.  The frequency response is 12 – 24 000 Hz.
The cord connected to the headphones is about 2 inches (50.8 mm) long.  It’s very convenient for when you need/want to disconnect from the source of the audio and move away for an extended distance:  you don’t need to take the headphones off, and take a long cable/cord with you.  A 4 foot (1.2 m) fabric cable is provided.

“Inspired by the latest in ski technology the cable quickly disconnects from the headband whenever the cable is caught”…the 3.5 mm stereo connectors on the cables are reinforced to prevent breakage.

The Stretch headphones have an auto-fit, stretchable, cushioned inner band.  The ear cushions are very soft, and isolate sound so noises outside of the headphones won’t interfere with what you’re trying to listen to.  I wore them for hours, and have no complaints.  I even wore them to dampen the noises that others were making around me…and in the hope that they would see the headphones and not try to talk to me (I wanted to ignore them, and for them to ignore me…it worked).

They are available in “Black Bordeauh” and “Powder White”.

The Snug model doesn’t have the suspension-type, cushioned, inner band.  And could be a better choice for some who tend to wear their hair in a very large “afro” style as I often do (see pictures on our website:  http://TechtalkRadio.com).

The Covert is an in-ear model with controls for iPhones, and The Specked has tough cords.

Before you go to their website, turn down the volume on your computer speakers.
