Selfies Can Lead to Death

We hear the warnings all the time! “Be careful when texting!” It’s pretty darn obvious you shouldn’t text when driving, sadly – many states and cities had to create laws to stem the flow of dingleheads texting while hurtling down the road at 70mph!!

This morning we learned of a couple of deaths while taking Selfies, another issue using the camera while doing anything!!

A Husband and Wife recently fell to their deaths while taking a “Selfie” of themselves while Vacationing in Portugal at the Cliffs at Cabo Da Roca, the couple had two children that were there and were taking into protective care until relatives could come take care of the kids. Tragic. It’s not the first time this has happened with death during selfies but hopefully with awareness, the last.

KMSB Fox 11 Daybreak Segment from 07/14/2014

In this Segment from Daybreak on Fox 11 KMSB Tucson, Andy Taylor of TechtalkRadio visits to talk about an easy to setup and use the Belkin Wi-Fi Netcam for Home Security/Monitoring. Andy loves the ease of use for downloading the App from Belkin and easily setting up the Netcam to give the user a connection when away to monitor and with the WeMo devices adjust and give the impression of somebody at home. The Wi-Fi Netcam features Motion Capture, HD Capture to an available service and of course the ability to view on your smartphone.

I have know Scott Sands for Years! We were both one of the original members of a Morning Show Prep Service started by Kidd Kraddick in the early 90’s. It was in the days of Dial Up and getting information shared made us all a little closer and better at networking.  Because of that service and of the Talentmasters Morning Show Boot Camp, many of us became friends and have kept in touch over the years.

We have shared the Air from Scott’s station when he was on in Miss, and at the same time, on the air in Palm Springs when I did mornings with Barry.  Recently Scott reached out to talk about the iOS 8 and Apple Announcements but we weren’t able to connect – We did today however and talked about E3 and some of the announcements coming out of LA! Always great to talk with Scott and look forward to doing it again soon!

E3 – Not all about the Software!

I had the chance to talk to some friends from SteelSeries today about some of the products they will be sharing on the show floor when E3 Officially opens tomorrow. The Electronic Entertainment Expo opens its doors to the crowds of industry representatives and the media June 10th and runs through the 13th at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

SteelSeries continues to develop accessories for the PC and Console Gamer with everything from Keyboards, Gaming Mice and awesome headsets. One product announced that can help your game play which is different from the traditional products in the company line is the SteelSeries “Sentry” Eye-Tracker

The SteelSeries “Sentry” Eye-Tracker has been developed in conjunction with Tobii Technology.  Gamers benefit with this device with a tracking of eye movements and shares that data with the user as bench-marked and compared to the movements of professional gamers.  The SteelSeries press release explains it easier:

“The SteelSeries Sentry Eye Tracker brings players an entirely new way to train for competitive gaming, by allowing the player to analyze a wide range of statistics based on where and how long a user focused, or fixated, on the screen. Fixations per Minute (FPM) tracks how often a user moves his or her eye gaze and attention around the screen; low values indicate that the gamer is able to process a lot of information. For comparison, FPM in eye tracking is the same type of correlation as APM or the total numbers of actions per minute a player can perform.”  While we could say it’s all in the wrist, obviously from this addition to E3, it’s also in the eyes.
