USB 3.0 Flash Drives exist, Kingston Technology has them…

It was a few weeks ago that TechtalkRadio recieved some USB 3.0 adapters from our friends at TrendNet so we could test out and experience the glory that would be USB 3.0. Seriously, the idea of transfering large files to external drives,  flash drives or even broadcasting or playing back video in HD is possible with the sysem specs of USB 3.0

Andy Taylor of TechtalkRadio made a few calls and reached out to manufacturers for external USB devices and connected with Kingston Technologies. The Fountain Valley California sent us a DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0.

To give you an idea why we were so excited with the concept, The specification for USB 3.0 with the data traverller from Kingston allows for data transfers as fast as 80 MB per second when being read from the drive, and up to 60 MB per second when being written to the drive…up to ten times the rate as USB 2.0 (which is 30 MB per second to read from, and 30 MB per second to write to, those types of drives).

To transfer a 265,441 MB file via a USB 3.0 connection to the drive took about 10 seconds.  Tranferring the same file via USB 2.0 to the drive took about 15 seconds. On the Kingston website it was noted  “During internal testing, a 1 hour 44 minute movie (3.9GB) was written to the drive in 1 minute 13 seconds. Similarly, a 2 hour 23 minute DVD (4.4GB) transferred to the drive at a fast 1 minute 23 seconds.”

I took the Beefy USB DataTraveler out of the packaging and began with the idea of formatting the FAT32 device to NTFS. I then tried a write of a  4.05 GB file:  it needed about two minutes via USB 3.0.  At USB 2.0 it took nearly 4 minutes to complete. Happy indeed was I and I could imagine how time saving this would be moving large amounts of small files.  The product we looked at was the 32GB Model.

The DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 is available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB capacities.  For use with some USB 2.0 ports, a Y-cable…that has two Type A plugs, and one Type A receptacle…is included.

Today I received a fantastic explanation of just what Embedded Computing is and how it plays into not only my life but those around me. Think of all the devices you use, or in many cases all the devices that are around you that operate everything from traffic lights to cars to medical equipment. In many scenarios, we may see these devices feature Embedded Computing and technology from Intel.

When I first heard the term Embedded Computing, I like some of you got glossed over and couldn’t imagine how this technology could affect me. Computing goes way beyond the Desktop Tower or iMac on our desktop and the Embedded Computing Group fills many of the gaps. Joe Jenson visited TechtalkRadio to talk about technology we will see in Digital Signage and how this technology will benefit not only Consumers but business owners as well. The Technology is already in use today and continued research and work in this area will get us closer to that world of “The Jetsons” then ever before.

In an explanation of Digital Signage with Intel Embedded Computing technology, users could walk up to a Digital Sign in a store and interact with the sign, learning wear the product was located visually, price match products and even try on clothes and share a photo of you in the clothes, without even stepping in a dressing room.

Outsourced – Interview with Actor Rizwan Manji

Andy Taylor has posted an interview at TechtalkRadio with Actor Rizwan Manji on his role in the NBC Television Series “Outsourced” The Television series based around the 2006 Movie “Outsourced” is the story of Todd, a Manager Trainee who is told if he wants to keep his job, he must Move to India and run the Call Center for the Company he works for. Todd, played by Actor Ben Rappaport, inherits a varied group of individuals to train to take calls from the United States for orders for a Novelty Company.

Rizwan Manji plays Todds Nemisis Rajiiv who one day hopes to have Todd’s job so that he can move out of his parents place and afford a place of his own. Similar to a “Frank Burns” type character, Rajiiv has something about him that is laughable yet loveable. Andy Taylor of TechtalkRadio talked with him about working on the show and how the show itself and others that are seen on Network Television may be signaling a change for East Indian actors.

Nikki shared some information on the process in developing the ChicBud line as well as trends and how they changed since the company first emerged on the scene in 2004. TechtalkRadio also found out from Nikki that the company has three different operations all intertwined within each other.

Andy Taylor this morning talked with CNBC Writer and Blogger for There’s a Pony in Here Somewhere Cindy Perman.  Andy and Cindy discussed the latest Job Trends in the United States along with the best location for not only Tech Jobs but other jobs as well. Cindy also shared some fun facts about the Top Six Companies to work for and why Google and Ning rate highly on the job ladder.

Cindy also talked about the state of the job market in TechtalkRadio’s Home State of Arizona and how it compares to other area in the country. We did find that if you are looking for gainful employment in the Defence sector, Washington DC is averaging about one job per applicant which makes it a market to watch.
