New Show Posted! #405 – Getting Rid of the Bloat!

In this Weeks TechtalkRadio Show, We learn a little about Shawn’s Bucc-ees Outfit his mom got him and how Shawn has been traveling for work. Taking a flight on Delta, Shawn was happy to find out that Delta Airlines will hand out trading cards. The guys talk about tracking aircraft if you are traveling or a friend or family member is, you can easily follow the flight using websites and apps such as FlightAware or ADSBExhange. Andy talks about how the web can also help locate aircraft you have possibly flown in and tells the story of how while in Civil Air Patrol he co-piloted a Cessna 172 and was able to locate that aircraft today with the tail number. Microsoft faced an outage earlier in the week on its X-Box Live Service and it serves as a reminder for having physical media instead of relying on the cloud. This applies to Movies and Series we have come to rely on from streaming services.  The guys share a couple of ways to make sure you can view your content that you have purchased using MakeMKV and Handbrake as possible resources.  Shawn built a Raspberry Pi Media Player for handling digital playback. For Games, so many have only been released Digitally and the guys talk about the last versions they bought for consoles and PC. Shawn tells us about a great Website for Older games, GOG Games has older titles for purchase – Andy wants to get a copy of one he played a lot, RedneckRampage. 

Andy started a new project this past week to downsize from the massive Cooler Master HAF932 to a smaller case. This was all in part to begin to move to Windows 11. Using the Asus Z-170A after purchasing the TPM 2.0 Header the goal would be to Upgrade to Windows 11. Andy gets the Fractal G Mid Tower Case and gets everything moved and cleaner. After deciding to do this, he realized with the 480GB with only 60GB left, he would have to update the Drive as well for more space. Andy updates to a 1TB but has an issue in cloning the drive and find Partition Wizard Mini Tool was the solution he needed. This does pose the question of instead of cloning an older drive, reinstalling Windows from scratch gets rid of the bloat. Some points to consider regarding the software are discussed. 

The Cooler Master HAF932

RealVNC has eliminated the home plans for the service which enabled connecting to other computers. As Shawn pointed out, this was a great way to take care of family members’ computers remotely. The Cost for the new plan is discussed and the problem with TeamViewer and a Security Breach is discussed. DJI is still under the scrutiny of the US Government and the latest is discussed here and how that would affect this that want to use a drone, The Countering CCP Drone Act could ban the sales of DJI products in the US.  Andy gives us a look at the Camp Snap Camera and why many are excited about this very different digital camera. The Screen Free Digital Camera allows the user to experience the taking of the photo and enjoy the moment without looking at what was captured. Gizmodo put together a list of Cool Gadgets for the past month of June, this includes the Insta360 Go 3S which is a small action camera.

New Show Posted – Episode #380 – The Shiny New Thing!

On this week’s TechtalkRadio Show, Shawn, Justin, Matt, and Andy respond to a question from listener Lou about a request from Lou’s 14-year-old son for a Computer Gaming System as a holiday gift. Lou mentioned his son’s specific interest was in the NZXT Computers’ “Player One” gaming rig. The team delves into considerations for this system with upgrade optionswhile also contemplating whether the son should opt for building his own PC or perhaps choosing a console such as the XBox or Playstation instead. Despite the impressive features of the NZXT Player One, the crew emphasizes always exploring various options which could be available. The team enjoys building systems however acknowledges the downsides of building a PC in cost and in some cases Warranty. Matt also recommends taking a look at Xidax Custom Built Computers as a reliable pre-built alternative. Custom building a system necessitates selecting a case with optimal airflow, and Andy discusses his past preference for Cooler Master, he recently built a couple of systems using Fractal Designs G Cases and was impressed with them.

Justin advocates for the Xbox gaming system, including the Xbox Game Pass, while Matt introduces Sony PlayStation systems, expressing a preference for the new PlayStation Handheld. Andy suggests the Asus ROG Ally Extreme which he shows to the crew on loan from Asus after sharing it on KMSB Fox 11.

Justin recounts his road trip in a Tesla Model Y across State Lines and shares the charging experience in other areas and cost for travel. Justin also tells us about ChargePoint Stations as well as navigating icy weather conditions in a Tesla can be different. Shifting gears, No Pun Intended, to OpenAI drama, Justin explains why he supports the board’s decision to remove CEO Sam Altman from OpenAI Recently. The discussion unfolds around Altman’s return, alongside his co-founder, with a new board.

New Show Posted – EPISODE 323 – Water Cooling and Scrubbing your Tech?

In this week’s show, Justin, Shawn, and Andy circle back around to the latest numbers of people playing Farming Simulator 2022 vs Battlefield 2042. Numbers in the past week showed more playing the Farming Simulator over the long awaited Battlefield. Farming Simulator is still not without its minor issues and Justin talks about a fix for a Frame Rate Cap. Justin and Shawn talk about the Steam Platform and why it’s a great way to purchase and store your games. The biggest seller for Black Friday according to reports has been the Microsoft XBox Series S. Justin tells us about the Difference between the Series S and the Series X. Wyze has introduced the Wyze Lamp Socket which Shawn has purchased, it is an easy way to Power the Wyze outdoor camera via USB. Shawn opens it during the show and Justin and Andy both want to get one. What’s Even more amazing is the price. While some consumers are concerned with the Privacy issues of an outdoor camera, the security overrules those concerns.

Justin talks about the continuing problem with Package Thefts and now that the Holidays are here, more people could fall victim to this. Ideas are shared as to ways to reduce the problem. While we love Security Cameras, these don’t help deter the crime. The guys share thoughts about the NextDoor App and how it is not as impressive as to when it launched. DJI has an issue with the Google Pixel 6 and Shawn shares the info about this. Asus has launched the PureGo PD100 which is a Food safety Detection device for your Fruits and Vegatables. Andy explains what this is all about. Andy is continuing the build on a New PC and has a question for Justin regarding Water Cooling. Justin talks about AIO (All In One) Water Cooling.

For our Product of the Week, Shawn tells us about Harvest Moon, a Nintendo64 and wants to play it with the Switch and finds some Wireless Controllers however due to the Bots the guys talk about how hard it can be to find and then purchase items!

New Show Posted! – Episode 267 – If It Don’t Fit, I Quit!

In this Weeks TechtalkRadio Show, Broadway, Shawn DeWeerd, Justin Lemme and Andy Taylor talk about the Stay At Home Orders and now how many are working from home. Broadway talks to us about iRacing with NASCAR and explains some of the Technology behind it. Some of the problems that can arise when installing an updated graphics card is case design and Shawn gets one that won’t fit. John says it’s time for Duct Tape and Bubble Gum to get it to stick! The guys talk about some of the many different cases that are available from Cooler Master or Corsair.

Andy has an issue trying to get an HDMI port running on a laptop the company sent him but is apprehensive to do it without bothering Tech Support.
