Maxthon browser bad?

(Thanks to Justin for warning us…OK, me…about this.)

“…users of the browser…were reassured by the manufacturer that this type of content will not be transferred anywhere without their explicit consent.

“…information transmitted without the user’s knowledge between the Browser and the Maxthon server…about the user’s website browsing preferences, information about his Google searches as well as the complete list of software installed on the user’s computer…

“…the Maxthon browser is not secure.

“It is also worth emphasising that the Exatel’s SOC got in touch with the creators of the Maxthon browser, sending a detailed technical report, with a request for Maxthon to respond, either in the form of a notice sent to the users about the type of data transmitted from their browsers to the Maxthon servers in Beijing, or in the form of a Maxthon browser software patch which would enable the alarmed users to deactivate effectively the transmission of the UEIP files to their servers. This request was ignored.”

SanDisk reveals New Mobile Storage Device

Product: SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive USB Type-C - left Type-C openThis morning SanDisk, a division of Western Digital announced a new storage device giving users the ability to transfer between Smartphones and USB C devices. SanDisk has been doing much for the mobile user with a similar device for iDevices such as the iXpand featured on our segment at KMSB Fox 11 Seen below.

Storage on the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive USB Type-C  is available currently for up to 128GB but also in affordable 16, 32 and 64GB capacities. For those with an Android device and wanting to back up data to the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive USB Type-C Storage drive, a free downloadable App from the Google Play Store SanDisk® Memory Zone allows for easily transferring to the device.

The Collapsible design makes for easy carrying and the USB 3.1 gives high speed performance across a USB 3.1 enabled connection. Users will also have the ability to connect a standard Type A USB.

Inexpensive and great storage capacities, this would make a nice gift for Fathers Day gift ideas. For more info, check out the SanDisk website  http://www.sandisk.com/home/mobile-device-storage/ultra-usb-type-c

New Coaster at Six Flags St Louis Launches with VR

This is one of the coolest ideas we’ve heard of in awhile. VR Coasters. With this concoction you aren’t just sitting in an easy chair with some VR Gear strapped on to your head – This is taking an environment and enhancing it with Virtual Reality. Riders wear the Oculus powered Samsung Galaxy Gear VR and take a real roller coaster ride while enjoying a world around the ride designed by Animators.

Six Flags Virtual Reality
Six Flags Virtual Reality

This has been created in partnership with Samsung Electronics America and features an amazing 360 loop and interactive game play during the ride

Virtual Reality on Ninja Facts:

  • Riders wearing Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus headsets, find themselves in the copilot seat of a fighter jet as they take on aliens in a battle to save the world;
  • This 360°, fully immersive, virtual battle takes guests flying through 2,430 feet of track at up to 65 mph;
  • The fighter jet darts between buildings, completing intense aerial acrobatics while guests travel through the 360°loop and corkscrew of the coaster’s steel track;
  • Sensors and proxies along the coaster track sync the movement of the coaster to the video riders are watching on their Samsung Gear VR headsets;
  • The experience begins as soon as riders leave the station house and start up the lift hill. While climbing the lift hill or going through the launch pad, guests can shoot at targets with a touch pad on the side of the headsets, making this the first game play ever used on a roller coaster.

Destroying devices, houses…and mankind

On the  March 26 show:

Leaving almost any kind of electronic device in a car…can be a bad idea.  Especially in the summer, and in desert climates.

Someone destroyed a house…the wrong one.  And then, he tried to blame it on Google Maps…

If you need an inexpensive computing device, maybe…MAYBE…a  Windows Cloudbook, Chromebook, or an iPad could be an option.

The App of the Week will give you information about Wi-Fi signals, and help to make them better!
