September 19 show…audio, notes, and links

The audio file of the show can be downloaded and streamed from here.

=====================

We talk to an Uber driver, and Justin explains how he uses Uber…without paying for it.

“…driving jobs for independent contractors in Tucson…work as much or as little as you want. Uber takes care of all the details…”

———————————–

Also, Uber is working with the UA College of Optical Sciences:

Brian McClendon, vice president of advanced technologies for Uber…”it’s clear that Arizona welcomes innovation.”

“…I look forward to working with Arizona…”

============================

iOS 9 has been released. Some got it (S!ick)…some didn’t (Andy)…and others don’t care (what’s-his-name/Justin).

————————————–

We learn that Apple uses end-to-end encryption in iMessage and FaceTime…

And in a related issue, Microsoft is resisting to comply with a warrant which orders it disclose contents of an email account…because the data is kept in a different country.

==================================

The cats of TechtalkRadio have new shirts for their “uniform”. And, so do cats.  (Again:  Justin’s fault.  Hey…I’m writing the post, I get to pick-on whom I choose to…)

================================

And here are some links related to subjects discussed during the show:

“…With Slingbox, you can watch live cable or satellite TV, video apps, recorded shows, and on demand shows on your phone, tablet, and computer. Anywhere in the world. Literally.”

Yahoo Livetext is live video texting, without sound…

“Tile is a tiny Bluetooth tracker and easy-to-use app that finds everyday items in seconds—like your phone, keys, and wallet.”

“Gazelle buys mostly Apple products, iPhones, iPads, iPods, Macbooks, Macs, select Apple TVs & Apple Displays. We also buy a select group of other smartphones and tablets like Samsung, Microsoft. LG and HTC to name a few…”

“Find your bacon lover. Introducing Sizzl – a real dating app for bacon lovers. Connect with thousands of like-minded lovers who share your selective taste in bacon…”

KMSB Fox 11 Segment – ChicBuds Great Gift Ideas for Valentines

Hopefully you have had a chance to read our Blog Post about ChicBuds and the Many Different products that the company offers for female technology users.

The Company features products for Women create by Women. Our Blog post can be found at http://blog.techtalkradio.com/?p=2035

One of those Ideas that will Raise some Eyebrows?

I am sure this has to be one of those ideas that has come along that will raise some eyebrows and cause a few groups to come forward and lay claims of the objectifying of Women for having scantilly clad (Usually means wearing anything from a two piece to a fig leaf but in this case, bikinis) women giving us DIY people a chance watch and learn.

http://www.eyehandy is a site that has launched with Videos featuring Models or maybe experts in their field giving viewers a hands off demo of how to do everything from regripping golf clubs to how to replace a kitchen faucet. While at first glance it could easily be assumed this site would be geared at Males but could the braintrust behind this also have the idea some women may watch and pick up tips from somebody who will explain the process in easy to understand terms.

This is probably one of those ideas some may wonder why they didn’t think of it first but the idea has existed in advertising for years. Do you really think those Victoria Secrets Ads are for Women to pick out the finest in Silk undergarments? The music in the Videos and pacing reminds me of those workout videos from the late 70’s early 80’s which I am not sure had men or even women working out alongside. If advertisers jump on board with products featured to help these experts create or build, could it be product placement at its finest?

The founder of EyeHandy is 26 year old Alex Merrimen who lives out in Las Vegas and with Mukundh Pandian create the content and manage the site. Merriman in the About Us on the Company Website stated that he wanted to creat videos with a “more informative teaching approach”

Whether informative or good clean fun, the site is sure to not only have some traffic over the next few weeks to view the current 15 videos in rotation. I myself am waiting for the How to Sew a Button Video, that is something I truly need to learn. For more information, Check out http://www.eyehandy.com

Online? Bring Back the Drive In’s!

Tucson was a bit Nostalgic on Saturday Night as a strong turnout from the Community showed up to support efforts by the Cactus Drive in Theater Foundation to bring back a Drive In Theater to the area.

The last drive in theater, The DeAnza Drive in closed in October of 2009 after almost 10 yeasrs of speculating of closures but it held fast to the fact that arizonans enjoyed the night air and watching a movie from their vehicles. Land, a valuable commodity, won and the theater closed down.

The Cactus Drive In Theater hopes to bring that tradition back and promises more fund raising efforts like the one Saturday which showed Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, a homage to the Deanza which showed the same film on its closing night.

You can log onto www.cactusdriveintheater.com for more information, or to donate to the foundation which hopes to purchase a parcel of land for a permanent drive in theater.
