This week on TechtalkRadio, Andy Taylor, Matt Jones, and Justin Lemme take listeners on a ride through pop culture, tech nostalgia, and the latest gadgets. We kick things off with Netflix’s surprise mega-hit K-Pop Demon Hunters, which has quickly become one of the most streamed films on the platform. Matt shares what this all has to do with Hannah Montana! The guys explore how the movie’s catchy soundtrack, unique animation style which Justin is not a fan of, and unexpected success are reshaping both the music and movie industries, But is it Enough?

From there, the conversation shifts to the future of movie theaters. Justin shares a hilarious yet frustrating story about his AMC theater experience, his impression is spot on, while Matt explains why premium theaters like Alamo Drafthouse are thriving. Andy shares a similar venue in the Tucson Area called Roadhouse Cinemas. The team debates whether streaming at home with services like YouTube TV is now a better option than overpriced tickets, flat sodas, and broken popcorn machines. Listener Steve from Tucson also sparks a great discussion on whether cutting the cord for YouTube TV is worth it.

On the tech front, Matt shares a new development with his new AI-powered home lab, now complete with Reolink 4K cameras and custom video analytics that can detect pets, license plates, and even track the dogs around the house. Justin, meanwhile, shares his return to the ambitious (and still in alpha) Star Citizen, a space sim that continues to evolve.

Of course, no trip down memory lane would be complete without celebrating 30 years of Windows 95. Andy, the Old Guy in the Room, realizes the Age Gap, when he ask Matt about the excitement of installing Windows95! The guys do reminisce about floppy disks, DOS gaming, and the long list of Windows versions that shaped the modern PC era. They also explain the term doom-scrolling for listeners who might be hearing it for the first time.

Finally, Matt ditches his smartphone and previews the brand-new Google Pixel 10 XL, fresh from Google’s “Made by Google” event. He’s already pre-ordered the device and will share a hands-on review in next week’s episode.Why didn’t Matt like the one he had before?

New Show – Episode 411 – Another Use for that Old SmartPhone!

For this week’s TechtalkRadio show, Shawn and Justin are back after a busy week. Justin shares his experience working extra shifts at the waterpark as the summer season winds down. He also talks about completing his computer setup, highlighting the importance of cable management. Meanwhile, Shawn has added a new camera to his setup and explains how he connected his old iPhone 7 Plus using NDI HX Cam. He dives into the concept of NDI (Network Device Interface) and its relevance for remote camera setups. Shawn also discusses NewTek, now part of Vizrt, and how their NDI technology has become increasingly popular. Andy shares his thoughts on repurposing older smartphones, while Justin talks about his plans to get the new Pixel 9 Pro Fold. He’s excited about the rebate he’s getting, which he plans to use for the new Google Stream TV. With Samsung pushing its Flip and Fold smartphones, some believe it’s the perfect time to make the switch. However, Justin is facing a challenge in finding a case for his Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Shawn then discusses the trend of adding larger sensors to smartphones for better photography, predicting that the “Camera Wars” will only get more competitive. The guys also dive into the Google TV Streamer, discussing its features and how it represents the next step in the evolution of Chromecast. The new device, which will be available on September 26th, is a set-top box offering 4K resolution, more memory, and faster performance. They compare the user experience between Roku and Google TV devices.

Justin also shares his excitement about getting new equipment for mobile DJing, including the Hercules DJ Deck, which works seamlessly with the Virtual DJ program. Meanwhile, Shawn reminisces about using his 35mm film camera, finding an old roll of Kodak 400 film, and getting the photos developed through indiefilmlabs.com, with which he’s very pleased.

The show wraps up with Shawn discussing the new DJI Mini 4 Pro drone. Andy expresses frustration over the introductory price of the DJI Mini 4, which is $299, compared to the over $1,000 he spent on the Mini 3 Pro. The conversation then shifts to potential legislation against DJI and similar concerns now being directed toward TP-Link.

Andy tells the story of an account which was tied to somebodies Snap Account and how to remove it from Snapchat.

Drones continue to be a fun topic as Shawn shares tips with Andy on Flying his DJI Mini 3 Pro Drone and what he shouldn’t be doing with it. DJI has announced a new Drone, the Avata, FPV Drone which is amazing in its Specs. Both Shawn and Andy had some post that for some reason gathered many views on Linked in and Instagram and the guys find the Short to the Point Videos seem to be the ones viewers will share or like on Social Media.

New Show Added! Episode 313 – Taking Out The Polaroid!

In this week’s show, Shawn, Broadway, and Andy share some reasons for the recent downturn in Crypto and what may have fueled this. El Salvador decides to adopt Crypto as a form of currency and when they gift the citizens digital currency, the citizens opt to pull the money out and use it rather then left it grow. This could be a fueling of that downturn. Andy’s Daughter Scarlett has been creating artwork and John shares info on how it could be used as an NFT to increase her exposure and even sell some of her creations. John recommends OpenSea.IO and explains the process would require a Digital Wallet and shares info on MetaMask. John also shares the darker sides though of transactions and reminds us it is The Wild West.

Shawn shares info on a new microphone he picked up at a great price. The Blue Yeti X World of Warcraft USB Edition. While Blizzard has been dealing with a PR Nightmare, Logitech G The Parent company of Blue has been selling these at an amazing price and the sound quality is top notch. Later in the Show, Shawn gives us an Audio Demonstration of the settings for the microphone. Shawn also shares his love for Cameras and purchases a new Version of The Polaroid Now Camera and breaks down why and how it works. Shawn also tells us about the Polaroid Go and how much smaller it is then the Polaroid Now. Andy shares a device he purchased from Amazon which looks like a regular quality Ink Pen however it is fitted with an Audio Recorder to record meetings and conversations. Top Gun Maverick has been once again delayed now till Memorial Day, May 27th of 2022. The announcement of the moving of the release date for Top Gun Maverick has now also moved the Top Gun Expansion Pack for Microsoft Flight Simulator as well.

Apple announces they will be holding an Apple Event on the 14th, and many are speculating it could be the 4 different rumored versions of the iPhone 13. The crew talks about the discussion about Satellite delivered signal and what that could mean. Broadway shares with us why he may not want to be connected in rural areas that have no service. Andy tells us about a story out of Samsung and South Africa where a Riot occurred, and TVs were looted from a Warehouse. Technology on these TV’s is enabling them to be shut down once on and connected to the Net, basically bricking the sets. John tells us how technology has a Management Information Base and with this gives the Manufacturers the ability to shut them down.

New Episode – Finding Bitcoin in the Couch Cushions..yes..it really happened..kind of

In this Weeks TechtalkRadio Show, its Andy Taylor Shawn DeWeerd and Justin Lemme on the show. Shawn has been busy working with the Sports schedule at the University and producing the sporting events and shares some of the biggest challenges in getting these done. Shawn gives us a look at the Wyze Light Bulbs and the ability to change some of the schemes all controlled by an App. Justin talks about why he ended up no longer using the Philips Hue system. Andy talks about the Wyze Cameras and how happy the Outdoor Camera has made his friends who bought the system. Andy shares a scary story which he calls his Social Dilemma moment regarding an Ad, fed to him on Instagram which hit too close to home. Andy notices that some of the quizzes which can reveal information used for passwords or verification have started to appear on Facebook and Twitter, this is dangerous for giving up info to those looking at your pages for information. The guys talk about personal data leaked online on Facebook. Justin tells us a way to read the envelope as to whether it is junk mail or not.

Shawn shares some info on a project he has been taking up for a Plex Server within his trailer while camping. He tells us what is unique about the 12v Raspberry Pi server and why he did it.
Justin talks about the uses he has found for Raspberry Pi and in the meantime builds a giant robot spider for some fun called a hexapod.

Justin tells us about finding some Bitcoin he forgot about from 2016 and just sitting there has had great return.
