Andy has wanted to do a segment on KMSB Fox 11 on Mini Form factor computers. Andy tells us about reaching out to MinisForum to take a look at the Mini Desktop only to be told by PR, go buy one! With the budget on the show he then reached out to Zotac which also produces Mini Desktop computers. The Marketing wizards responded with some questions which Andy answered and…They disappeared, never responding. Disappointed Andy decided to buy a Mini Desktop and went ahead and bought the ACE PC T11. A Mini Form Factor PC running Windows 10, Andy talks about the T11 and some of the reasons he is glad he went with this unit. Upgradability on the Storage, 4 USB, Wi-Fi, Ethernet Port, MicroSD Slot, Included HDMI Cable and a VGA port are just a few of the reasons, the pricing was only at $140!

Shawn and Andy talk with Stevi Sterns, a Product Manager from Epson, about a brand new Epson printer which does amazing prints of photos. The Expression Photo XP-970 can Print, Scan, Copy and produce vivid colors for photo printing. We talk with Stevi at the user of the Expression Photo XP-970 and who would be the target user? We love the Expression Photo XP-970 from Epson gives the user the opportunity to print 4×6 all the way up to 11×17! Using a 6 Color Claria Ink System the pictures printed give a good representation of the original. Users can also use the Epson Connect features to be able to print directly from a smart phone without a router, although in a connected home, printing wirelessly over a network is also a great advantage. Great Prints, Vibrant Colors and speeds, The Expression Photo XP-970 from Epson is a great printing device.

Into The Mind of Bill

TechtalkRadio Original Crew
When we started the radio show, it was in Palm Springs on the KPSI-AM Station. Mike O’Brien, Bill Grace and I had heard that Bill Gates had a home not far away in Indian Wells and always wondered if he ever checked out the only Tech Show on the Radio in Palm Springs back then. We did get a guy named Bill Gates call into our show once but..not THE Bill Gates.

While I will have to juggle Downton Abbey, Rambo Last Blood and Ad Astra this weekend, I still have to be sure to catch Between Two Ferns: The Movie on Netflix. To be honest I have already snuck in about 15 minutes of it while at work and am still laughing.

Another Must see on Netflix this Weekend is Inside Bill’s Brain: Decoding Bill Gates. The show is a 3 Part Documentary of Bill Gates, What got him started, what motivates him and of course his thoughts on where we are going with Technology. Let’s face it, Bill helped drive computer technology with the Windows Operating System in Homes and Small Business. We look forward to this one as well, but it will have to wait till I finish Between Two Ferns. – Andy

KMSB Fox 11 Daybreak – Taking a look at the Asus Chromebook C523NA

For today’s segment Andy Taylor of TechtalkRadio visited the KMSB Fox 11 Studios and shared some info on the Asus Chromebook. We are hearing more of students in both the high school level as well as in some of the Tucson Area Trade Schools and Continuing education using Chromebooks for not only school but also many of the features we use windows or apple based computers on.

A question that some salespeople are asked in regards to Chromebooks is “Does it run windows?” The short answer is No, however some modifications can be done to enable this but honestly, Why? Over the years we have seen the Chromebook develop into a real player in the Mobile Laptop space with the Google OS (Operating System) While for some it may take a little getting used to however with Google Docs, Users can create documents and save – print and share these. Users can take full advantage of the cloud with the online service on a WiFi connection however users can also work offline with the Chromebook.

We are looking at the Asus C523NA which I picked up for under $300 with Touchscreen. This Intel Pentium N4200 Processor at 1.10Ghz based machine features 64GB internal storage which may seem minuscule compared to 512GB to 1TB we see on higher end Laptops running the Microsoft Windows Operating system however the concept is a machine that is battery saving, lighter and integrates well with the Internet. For those that have a preference to using Microsoft Products, Office Online is available as an App giving access to a version of Word and Excel for starting at a 6.99 a month fee which includes Skype Video Calling.

The Chromebook comes equipped with an HD Cam. The Google Product Line allows you to upload and download photos, share them within google photos – All that is a part of the Google Apps. The C523NA features 2 USB 3.0 slots and a satisfying battery life of around 6-10 hours of course depending on the work you are doing. It works with the Google Chrome browser.

While Andy may not want to qualify this us a laptop only due to confusion between Windows Based Laptops and Mac Books
it essentially is, but running Google OS.

The price is right as well – You can find Chromebooks very reasonably priced at under $300
